How this site was built
I built this site with Claude Code, Anthropic’s coding agent. I want to be specific about what that means, because “built with AI” has started to mean everything from “I typed one prompt” to nothing at all.
What I did
- Decided what the site is for and who it’s for: people hiring an engineering leader.
- Answered a long interview about my career, my projects and what I would and wouldn’t say publicly. Claude asked; I decided.
- Chose the stack (Astro, S3, CloudFront) and the concept. The first version Claude built was a résumé in disguise; I threw it out and asked for a showcase.
- Decided every piece of content that stayed.
- Reviewed every page, rejected plenty of it, and edited the copy until it sounded like me.
What Claude did
- Read my old portfolio, my LinkedIn, my GitHub and the sites for my projects, and pointed out what was missing and what didn’t hold up.
- Wrote the code: the Astro components, the styles and the deploy setup.
- Drafted the copy from my own material, for me to cut and rewrite.
- Checked its own work in a browser, at desktop and phone widths, in light and dark mode.
Why say so
Because it’s true, and because it’s the job now. An engineering leader in 2026 should know first-hand what these tools are good at, where they go wrong, and how much judgment they still need. The same goes for the projects on the home page: each one says who did what.
